It’s been a while since I sat down and wrote about what’s going on with me at the moment and what things I’ve really been enjoying recently, so that’s exactly what I’m doing now!
Time has flown by so quickly that two weeks ago I finished my A-Levels! On Friday the 7th of July I had my Leaver’s Ball (that’s where I am in the photo on the left) and it was my last chance to say goodbye to so many fantastic people. That major part of my life is (hopefully) now over, and honestly it’s been weird. After my last exam on the 22nd of June I came home and just enjoyed doing nothing except watching TV shows, movies, and playing video games.
Since then I’ve found a number of other things to spend my time on, including writing and some online courses. I didn’t know how I was going to feel when everything was all over but I don’t feel that much different, just a lot less bored. The monotonous life of revision and light TV watching is over, now everyday can be and is different!
Other than that, not much is happening in my life. By the time this post is up I’ll be in Paris with a friend of mine – my first holiday in which the only responsible adult is myself – so you can expect to see some footage of that soon.
Now let’s look at some of my current favourites. I’m talking films and TV, games, and the much loved ‘other’!

I thought I’d
again try something a little bit different and just have a chat with you guys about what’s been happening with me recently! The short answer is A-Levels, which have slowly been taking over my life for a while now as you might have been able to tell as it seems to be a sort of recurring theme in my videos and posts. But other than school and A-Levels I’m also talking about life in general, books, and films, so enjoy!
I mentioned in my ‘New Years Resolutions’ post that I wanted to use my blog as a sort of diary – a place to share thoughts, reviews, stories, recommendations and more – and so that is what I’m doing! This isn’t going to be an especially long, interesting, or inspirational post but I thought it would be nice to talk about my experience with the Met Film School as winner of the Brexit Storytelling competition!
So I guess it all began on the 23rd of June when Britain voted to leave the EU. Personally, as I wanted to stay, I was disappointed by this. But something that especially struck me was that the government had refused to lower the voting age to 16, despite the importance of this Referendum and the fact that we wouldn’t be able to just wait another 4 years to express our views and potentially change the outcome. Some of my friends wanted to stay, some to leave, but we all wished we could have had a say in the matter. All we could do to show our frustration and our views was to retweet and share posts. Despite the title of my small and silly video, I don’t think you can create a recipe for creativity. Or at least not a definite one. Everybody is different and so not everybody’s recipe will rise for every person. But something that never fails to work for me is an idea from Scott Adams:
Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.
It always reminds me that making mistakes and being awful is a part of the process, you just have to keep on making!

Midwinter is undoubtably the worst time of the year; it’s cold, foggy, and windy practically all of the time yet there’s no snow to play in and the Christmas lights were packed away long ago. Add to that returning to work, school and having mock exams and you really do get quite a horrid part of the season. So it’s no surprise that many people struggle at this time; it’s stressful and miserable. But there are some things we can all do to make it a bit better.
Before you say anything, I know this is fairly late in the month to start talking about New Years Resolutions but better late than never right?
I have always been someone who sets resolutions for the New Year, in fact I’ve published blog posts about my resolutions for 2015 and for 2016. I find that if I tell the internet I have to hold myself to them! And I will be doing the same today and probably for years to come.
I briefly want to look back at my resolutions for 2016 and I think, on the whole, I did quite good:
– January 2nd 2017 –
On every turn of the year I find myself amazed at how quickly time goes by. It feels as if my Mum and I were putting up our Christmas tree only yesterday – when in fact we were just slobbing out in front of the TV, having a final full day of relaxation before having to return to the humdrum routine of college and work.
So I moved house just over a year ago now and I remember, as soon as we had settled in and the house wasn’t so full of cardboard boxes, asking my parents for some proper bookshelves. My Mum had put up the ones at my old house in the nooks on either side of my fireplace and so I didn’t actually own anything I could place my collection of books, films, comics and knick-knacks on. This was an issue.
Just a simple little video today capturing my lazy and Autumnal Sunday dog walk. For me Autumn in the best time of the year to go wandering, with or without dogs, because even though there is a chill running through the air, the sun shines and heats you up. It’s also the perfect weather to go sit in a park drinking mochas and reading, so that’s definitely a bonus!
