With a suggested duration time of “More than 3 hours,” it is unsurprising that it’s also advised to tackles this year’s Lumiere London Light Festival over two days. I myself, with a willing friend, managed to make it to almost all the installations in the Mayfair area, around half of the installations in the West End area, and spotted a few of the Westminster & Victoria ones too. And all in under 5 hours – it’s safe to say our feet were aching the next day! Whether you went to the Festival this year, went last year, or plan to visit next year (or simply just fancy looking at the pictures), you can watch my video above and read my thoughts on the event below.
What is Lumiere London?
Lumiere London is an art festival taking place over four evenings at the start of the year that showcases the architecture of London city through light installations designed by artists from around the globe. This year is the second time Lumiere was brought to London after a successful run last year, and its growing popularity over the UK.
As I mentioned in my last post (which you can watch and read here) I’ve left my Christmas shopping a little bit late – as I’m writing this it’s the 22nd of December and I’m sat on the floor of my local shopping centre, surrounded by busy Christmas shoppers, so I could finish my shopping and get this video uploaded at the same time. So, with a similar thought process, I decided to wrap a couple of presents and answer some Christmas Tag questions to share a little of my Christmas with you.
It’s weird for me to be leaving all these Christmas preparations to the last minute, I’m always the one Continue reading
Is it hypocritical that one of my favourite parts of living in London is that it looks like I don’t live in London?
I moved down to London at the end of September to start at university and I had never been more excited – or more nervous – for anything in my life. London has always been my favourite city; the city that, despite cheating on it with Paris, New York, Ottawa and more, I came back to every time with a loving embrace. Continue reading
9/07/ 17 – 12/ 07/ 17
There’s an unspoken truth about the end of A-Levels: as soon as you and your friends have finished all your exams you pack a bag, board a plane, and head off somewhere exciting. For many that’s to Magaluf or Ibiza – but that’s never really been my kind of thing. So my friend and I instead decided to grab a different ticket and to explore La Ville-Lumière!
Back again with another film review for you today, this time it’s all about Edgar Wright’s new film Baby Driver! (I bet you didn’t guess that from the title!)
Although I frustratingly couldn’t see this film on the day it was released I was lucky enough to have a couple of days to let the hype start to settle around this film and fortunately it managed not only to meet this exceptionally high level, but exceeded it. So as soon as I got home from the cinema I sat down with my notebook, splurged all my thoughts down, did a quick little bit of research and recorded this video. I wanted it all to be fresh in my mind – I definitely think the buzz of it still shines through despite having to re-record it because I deleted all of my audio!
However I have reflected a bit more on the film and I have to admit that there was one thing that I had a bit of an issue with and that’s the fact that I wish the film had been a little less male-dominated.
I am breaking my two month hiatus with this short little snapshot of my life video!
Back in April, when the weather was unnaturally beautiful for English Spring-time, my family and I decided to take the dogs to a place called Grinshill for a walk all around the nearby woods. Continue reading
I’ve wanted to do some film reviews on my blog for a while now and, as a massive Disney fan, I thought starting with Bill Condon’s live action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast would be a lovely place to start. But please do excuse my rambling – I still don’t know what I’m doing!
The Original Beauty and the Beast has always been one of my favourite Disney Classics; not only do I adore the music, French setting, and beastly romance but also I have always seen part of myself in Belle. Continue reading
– January 2nd 2017 –
On every turn of the year I find myself amazed at how quickly time goes by. It feels as if my Mum and I were putting up our Christmas tree only yesterday – when in fact we were just slobbing out in front of the TV, having a final full day of relaxation before having to return to the humdrum routine of college and work.
1st – 4th December 🎄
So I decided, very spontaneously, that this year I wanted to do Vlogmas!
For those who haven’t heard of Vlogmas it’s just uploading vlogs everyday in December or up to the 25th of the month; however I’ll only be uploading weekly vlogs every Monday because my life is far from interesting enough to warrant daily vlogs!
Just a simple little video today capturing my lazy and Autumnal Sunday dog walk. For me Autumn in the best time of the year to go wandering, with or without dogs, because even though there is a chill running through the air, the sun shines and heats you up. It’s also the perfect weather to go sit in a park drinking mochas and reading, so that’s definitely a bonus!
